Thirdly, I don’t forget to say thanks very much to the master of ceremony who gave me an opportunity to stand in front of you all to deliver my speech entitled “   The Challenge to develop Islamic economics’'

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Nowadays, Islamic economic has been a hot and challenging issue. Islamic economic appears to be an alternative system which is considered can create a new life order that up to now still facing various fundamental problems. The capitalism system contributes to the emergency of  many problems as, poverty, hunger and other challenging problems, that still exist in this world. That is why the system of Islamic economic is expected to provide solutions to these problems and lead the society to the peak of human civilization.
The development of Islamic economic include three steps: first is how to develop discourse on Islamic economic in the college or university level. Second is developing the system, and the last is the practice, which means to practice the Islamic economy.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
In the level of discourse, Islamic economic must be built as a scientific discipline. Islamic economics, in one side, should be studied using deductive and normative approach, integrated with religious values, but in the other side, it also must be built on the basis of inductive study based on rationalistic-empirical approach. According to Dawam Rahardja, Islamic economics is developed based on the assumption that economic problems are complex and multi-dimensional problem. It therefore needs inter-disciplinary approaches, particularly an integrated approaches between traditional religious knowledge as the basis of ethic and modern sciences.

The second phase is to develop the system, through the establishment of laws, or local regulations that enable the system to be firm.

The third stage is to apply the principles of Islamic economics through practice, it can be done if there is a concern and a strong willingness from the economics practitioners to remain committed with Islamic economic practice in their daily economic activities. In this case, the practice of Islamic economics must be realized in a professional and profitable way.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
The conclusion from my speech is that our challenge now is how to develop the Islamic economic with an integrative approach. In the context of our Faculty, FEBI, it is the integration between Islamic values and ethic and economic modern science.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
That’s all of my speech, for the last point as a student we must study hard for the future of Islamic economics. And if you find some mistakes in my speech please forgive me.
